Category 1 - Winds 74 - 95 mph
Category 2 - Winds 96 - 110 mph
Category 3 - Winds 111 - 130 mph

Getting Your Home Ready for the Storm
• Remove loose and damaged branches from trees
• Secure external doors
• Check batteries
• Board up or place shutters on windows
• Bring in all yard furniture & plants
• Check on neighbors
• Sandbag low lying areas if floods likely
• Place rolled up towels in sliding door tracks
Foods to Stock Up on BEFORE the Storm
• Peanut Butter
• Fresh Fruits
• Breads
• Crackers
• Lunch Meat
• Snack Bars
• Bagged Ice
• Bottled Water
• Canned Protein
• Condiments
Refrigerate Food Safely
• Refrigerated food will keep cold for 4 hours after the power goes out
• After that, move perishable items to a cooler with ice
• Open refrigerator as little as possible to keep items cold
• Use extra space in the freezer for ice bags
• Use empty washing machine to store ice bags
Fill Bathtub With Water Before The Storm
During The Storm
• Stay inside, away from windows and glass doors
• Close all interior doors
• Keep curtains and blinds closed
• Get to a small interior room, closet, or hallway on the lowest level
• Lie under a table or other sturdy object
Safety During a Power Outage
• Unplug major appliances to protect them from a power surge
• Leave a light turned on so you know when power is restored
• Refuel generators outside & stay away from any flames or sparks.
• Wipe up fuel spills immediately
• Avoid downed power lines or sparking equipment
• Never remove debris that's within 10 feet of a power line
• Absolutely NO lit candles
• Keep flashlights in every room
• Reviews and investigates allegations of Fraud and Abuse
• Takes Corrective Actions for any supported allegations

Leave as Early as Possible if Evacuating to Avoid Traffic Jams
What to Take With You When Evacuating
• Prescription medications
• First Aid Kit
• Vital documents (drivers license, passport, social security cards, insurance information, tax records, birth & marriage certificates, & any other documents)
• Flashlights with extra batteries
• Cell phone & charger
• Important phone numbers
• Cash ( small bills and change )
• Bedrolls or sleeping bags
Don’t Forget About Your Pets
The calmer you are, the calmer your pet will be.
Speak in a calm, soothing voice to your pet.
Have backpack of pet essentials handy
• If you feed pet canned food, be sure you have manual can opener
• 2-3 Extra gallons water for pet
• Any Medication pet needs
• Favorite toys & bedding
• Leash, harness, disposable bags
• Litter box for cats
When Returning Home
• Bring necessities, such as food & water with you when you return
• Watch for snakes and other animals possibly forced into your home by flooded waters
• Avoid roads covered by water and/or debris, & avoid downed power lines
• Wear sturdy shoes & protective clothing during any cleaning
• Avoid skin contact with flood waters
